Sustainable Natural Resource Management (SDG 2, 13 & 15)

Sustainable Natural Resource Management (SDG 2, 13 & 15)

Program Goal

To restore degraded ecosystems and enhance sustainable natural resources management, governance and watersheds by adjacent communities.

Target Reach

20,000 Hectares of restored watersheds

Strategic Focus Areas

  • Natural resource governance in:
    • Establish watershed platforms
    • Establish Natural Resources Mgt committees
    • Establish sub-watershed committees with most interested stakeholders,
    • Develop watershed & sub-watershed visions and action plans,
    • Facilitate and promote the implementation of the sub-watershed action plans,

Current / Previous Project(s)

Flagship Project: CommonGround – Pathway 2 (2022–2026)

This project Focusses on restoring and converting 12,500 ha farmland converted to sustainable use.

There exists investment opportunities to:

  • Collective action for watershed restoration,
  • Empowering communities and (sub-)watershed stakeholders for effective governance.
  • Restoring the upstream (steepest and most erosion- prone) watersheds, by means of concrete (sub-)watershed management plans
