ISSD Uganda works to ensure resilient, seed and food systems for sustainable commercialization of agricultural production.
Our pillars of excellence and competence at ISSD Uganda include; Sector transformation, Capacity building and knowledge Brokering, Partnerships and Sector Coordination as well as Support for Fragile communities.
We specifically:
- Promote resilient seed systems for sustainable agriculture
- Promote climate smart resilient food systems for food & income security
- Strengthen coordination between seed and commodity value chain
- Promote evolution of inclusive policies for agricultural development
- Strengthen market systems for improved access to collective marketing for small-holder farmers
- Support in finding evidence-based innovations in the seed and food system
- Promote advanced horticulture production technology transfer
- Promote sustainable natural resources management based on integrated farming systems development approach
- Promote agricultural-based nutrition and income generation enhancement in fragile communities including refugees, host communities, vulnerable women and children, and marginalized groups
- Conduct agricultural sector research for purposeful learning and evidence-based innovative solutions
